Below is a proposed schedule of events for YEA this year, if you have suggestions or ideas please let me know! There is also a lot going on with YEA at the national level, please feel free to ask questions about these events
February – Networking Event at Good Life
March 29th – Annual Cornhole Tournament
ASHRAE YEA Night TBD
2nd Technical Tour TBD
Fraunhofer CSE Tour
Our first technical tour at Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems went very well. Kurt Roth gave members a presentation on the buildings different types of Mechanical systems. The presentation included a history of the project, overview of design and construction and lessons learned. The question and answer section allowed YEA members to learn more about the latest methods of design and construction.
As seen in the photos below, the tour included the lab space and mechanical rooms. YEA members were able to examine the chiller, radiant flooring, displacement ventilation, radiant chilled panels as well as other mechanical systems.
We are always looking for YEA members to get more involved in our chapter. If you are interested in learning more about YEA, please join us at our YEA social night at the Good Life. Additionally, ASHRAE offers a leadership weekend for future ASHRAE leaders. This year’s leadership weekend will be held in Seattle, MA on March 23-25. Topics will include leadership, networking, communication, and professional development. More information can be found here:
ASHRAE Leadership U is another program offered through ASHRAE. Have you ever wondered what ASHRAE Officers do at the ASHRAE Winter & Annual Conferences? Here is your chance to find out! Through Leadership U (offered by the YEA Institute), a handful of YEA members are selected for each conference to be matched up with Society Officers and participate in all of their events and board meetings, including social activities. Leadership U not only allows you to experience a conference like an Officer, but it is also a great opportunity to network and form connections with those active in ASHRAE.
